Verification Officer Intern – Western Kenya

About the role

The Verification Officer Intern will support the loan application process by independently confirming customer information, business operations, and supporting documents. This full‑time position offers practical experience in microfinance, KYC, and credit risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk verification of customer identity, business, residence, and referee information.
• Verify documents, contact details, and business operations submitted with loan applications.
• Cross‑check information to identify inconsistencies, misrepresentation, or potential fraud.
• Assess and report risks, discrepancies, and red flags before loan approval.
• Ensure applications meet the company’s KYC and verification requirements.
• Maintain accurate verification records in company systems.
• Prepare clear verification reports and communicate findings to the decision‑making team.
• Support early repayment follow‑up and escalate identified customer risks to supervisors.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling customer and company information.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in any relevant field.
• Computer competency.
• Strong interest in verification, credit risk, compliance, and financial services.
• Previous experience in microfinance is an advantage.
• Applicants should be 30 years of age or below.
