Veterinary Surgeon

About the role

The Veterinary Surgeon will work full‑time on site at the Nairobi clinic, providing clinical examinations, diagnosis, and both medical and surgical treatment for small animals and, when required, other species. The role includes client communication, record keeping, and participation in emergency coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct consultations, perform soft‑tissue and orthopedic surgeries, and prescribe appropriate medications.
• Interpret laboratory test results and diagnostic imaging to guide treatment plans.
• Oversee preventive care programmes, including vaccinations and wellness checks.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate treatment plans clearly to pet owners.
• Collaborate with the clinical and support team to continuously improve protocols and ensure high standards of patient care.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) from a recognised institution.
• Full professional registration/licence to practice veterinary medicine in Kenya.
• Experience in small‑animal practice; exposure to equine, livestock or exotic species is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client education and team collaboration.
• Willingness to work in a busy clinical environment and participate in after‑hours emergency duties.
