Veterinary Surgeons and Paraprofessionals Internship 2026

About the role

The Directorate of Veterinary Services, under the State Department for Livestock Development in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, is announcing internship vacancies for eligible veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals who graduated in 2025 or earlier. This is a statutory requirement under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act, No. 29 of 2011, Sections 15(1) and 17(1). The internship begins in January 2027 and is governed by the public service internship policy, the 2013 regulations and the Kenya Veterinary Board guidelines.

Required profile

• Temporary registration as a veterinary intern for 2026 with the Kenya Veterinary Board
• Certificate of training (BVM, BSc, diploma or certificate) from a Kenya Veterinary Board-recognised institution
• KCSE and KCPE certificates, national identity card, birth certificate and KRA PIN certificate
• Valid certificate of good conduct, SHA registration, NSSF registration and personal accident insurance cover
• Bank account in your own name and two recent passport-size photographs

• Register with the Kenya Veterinary Board as an intern through its website.
• After receiving the certificate of registration, apply to the Director of Veterinary Services by providing your personal details through the online form.
