Waiter / Food & Beverage Attendant – Entry Level

About the role

Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi is seeking an enthusiastic Entry‑Level Waiter / Food & Beverage Attendant to join its dining team. Reporting to the F&B Manager, you will deliver professional service, support smooth restaurant operations, and help create memorable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and break down service stations, ensuring equipment and supplies are organized and maintained.
• Take food and beverage orders, serve guests promptly, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menus, including special dietary requirements, and communicate offerings passionately.
• Handle cash transactions accurately, following hotel procedures.
• Monitor daily reports (arrivals, VIPs, group bookings) and follow up on required actions.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables, clear used crockery discreetly, and ensure a safe dining environment.
• Assist at the bar when needed and supervise outlet operations as required.
• Support training and mentoring of junior staff and contribute to service improvement meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in Food & Beverage, preferably in a luxury hotel.
• Operational knowledge of a Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system is an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong interpersonal skills.
• Guest‑service orientation with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
