Welding Technician

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Welding Technician in a manufacturing setting, based along Mombasa Road. The role covers welding and fabrication operations, quality inspection and workshop support.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MIG, TIG and Stick welding according to technical drawings and job specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble and repair metal components to production and structural standards.
• Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models, and verify measurements and material specs.
• Set up welding machines, adjust voltage, amperage, wire feed and gas flow, and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Inspect completed welds for structural integrity and fix defects such as cracks, porosity and incomplete fusion.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools, and keep the workshop clean, organised and safe.
• Follow occupational health and safety rules, including proper use of PPE.
• Support fabrication and modification of production components and machinery, and assist with equipment maintenance.
• Keep records of work and materials, and report progress and equipment issues to supervisors.

Required profile

• Diploma in Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Certified welder (e.g. AWS, CWB) preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Welding Technician.
• Experience in a plastic product manufacturing environment is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in MIG, TIG and Stick welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
• Knowledge of machine setup, feeds and speeds.
• Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
