Workshop Manager – Fleet Maintenance (Trucks & Vehicles)

About the role

The Workshop Manager will lead the workshop that maintains Kaziweza Limited’s fleet of trucks, heavy commercial vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and related equipment. The role ensures high vehicle availability, safety compliance and cost‑effective maintenance while supervising workshop staff and resources.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day workshop operations, ensuring timely servicing, repairs and maintenance.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimise breakdowns.
• Prioritise repair jobs based on operational needs and vehicle condition.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and monitor fuel dispatch.
• Oversee maintenance of heavy‑duty trucks, tankers, trailers, light commercial and passenger vehicles, plus generators where applicable.
• Diagnose recurring mechanical issues and apply long‑term corrective actions.
• Supervise mechanics, electricians, welders and support staff, allocating work and providing coaching.
• Manage workshop inventory, spare parts, lubricants, tyres and tools, maintaining optimal stock levels.
• Coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing of genuine parts and monitor supplier performance.
• Prepare and control the workshop maintenance budget, tracking repair costs and identifying savings.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in workshop or fleet maintenance management.
• Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory standards for commercial vehicles.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control and inventory management.
