Workshop Supervisor

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Workshop Supervisor in Kariobo South, Kenya, in the funeral supplies and equipment industry. The supervisor oversees daily workshop operations, supervises production staff, ensures quality standards are met and coordinates the efficient use of materials, equipment and labour to reach production targets. Hands-on experience in carpentry, woodworking, metal fabrication or plastic manufacturing is expected.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily workshop activities, allocate tasks, monitor performance and ensure production schedules and targets are met.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications, conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions on defects.
• Monitor the use of machinery and tools, follow preventive maintenance schedules, report breakdowns and coordinate repairs.
• Keep the workshop organised, clean and efficient.
• Monitor raw material and consumable usage, coordinate material requisitions, minimise wastage and assist with stock-taking and inventory control.
• Enforce safety procedures, run safety briefings, ensure staff use PPE and investigate incidents and hazards.
• Supervise, train and mentor staff, monitor attendance and discipline, and help with recruitment and onboarding.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports and track workshop KPIs.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a carpentry workshop, woodworking company, metal fabrication or plastic manufacturing company.
• Demonstrated experience managing workshop teams and production processes.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of workshop operations and production processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings where applicable.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
