Accountant - Finance & Operations

About the role

A supply chain technology company based in Nairobi is hiring a detail-oriented, proactive Accountant to support its day-to-day financial operations, statutory compliance and management reporting. The role covers core accounting functions such as payroll, invoicing, receivables, tax returns, expense claims and reconciliations, and supports monthly management information reports. It suits a mid-level accountant who can grow into broader finance responsibilities as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online and process customer invoices accurately and on time
• Record and reconcile supplier invoices, expenses and payments; perform monthly bank, customer and supplier reconciliations and support month-end closing
• Prepare and process monthly payroll, including PAYE, VAT and other statutory returns and filings
• Issue customer invoices, monitor outstanding balances, follow up on overdue payments and prepare accounts receivable ageing reports
• Review and process staff expense claims, maintain supporting documentation and support internal financial controls
• Support monthly management accounts, draft income statements, cash flow tracking and budget-versus-actual analysis
• Assist with tax queries, audits and internal and external audit requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field
• CPA qualification or active progression toward CPA or ACCA
• 2-5 years of practical accounting experience, preferably in an SME or growing corporate business
• Preferred: at least 2 years in a technology, IT services, SaaS or professional services environment, and experience preparing draft income statements and MIS

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
• Working knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations, statutory deductions and payroll
• Experience in invoicing, accounts receivable, tax filing and bank reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
