Accounts Assistant (M/F)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring an Accounts Assistant in Nairobi on a full-time basis under a fixed-term contract. The role covers receiving and tracking supplier invoices, preparing tracking reports, handling tagging charges and disputes, and creating accounts for new suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive supplier invoices from the front desk, sort and confirm them by email, and check that each invoice has the required details (tax receipt, buyer's PIN, LPO, date) and supporting documents (LPO, contract, delivery note).
• Track received invoices within 24 hours and share a daily tracking report containing only the invoices tracked that day, ensuring they reach the right department; prepare a weekly report and help clean up the tracking files.
• Receive tagged-charges invoices from approvers, book approved charges within one day and forward booked invoices to filing.
• Communicate disputes arising from non-compliant invoices to suppliers, keep a record of open disputes, escalate to account handlers and supervisors, and ensure disputed invoices are booked on time to avoid VAT loss.
• Act as reliever for transporter invoice bookings and urgent payments, follow up on new suppliers needing accounts, and complete account creation forms for compliant transporters.
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Financial Controller or senior management.

Required profile

• A business degree.
• CPA (K), ACCA, CFA or an equivalent qualification.
