Actuarial Analyst – Insurance Pricing & IFRS 17

About the role

The Actuarial Analyst will support APA Life Assurance in product pricing, financial modelling, reserving calculations and regulatory reporting. This full‑time position is based in Nairobi and requires strong analytical expertise in general insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review IFRS 17 valuation results, associated disclosures and statutory filings with the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
• Perform periodic claims experience analyses to inform pricing and reserving assumptions.
• Run capital adequacy assessments under local solvency regulations and prepare recommendation reports.
• Collaborate with finance to align actuals versus budget and improve monthly close efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field; a master’s degree in actuarial management is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years actuarial experience in general insurance, with proven expertise in IFRS 17 valuation and reporting.
• Progress toward actuarial qualification (at least 8 papers passed).
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision, and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with actuarial modelling tools such as Basys and RiskIntegrity.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VBA, and experience with Python or R for data analysis.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar dashboarding tools.
