Agriculture Relationship Manager – Commercial

About the role

Absa Bank Kenya is looking for an Agriculture Relationship Manager (Commercial) based in Nairobi to manage and sustain a portfolio of corporate customers, building long-term relationships through efficient and reliable support. The main objective is to maximise risk-adjusted portfolio contribution while driving business development with new and existing customers to increase wallet share.

Key responsibilities

• Sales and service (65%): achieve annual financial targets for balance sheet growth, revenue, profitability and market share, keeping portfolio-at-risk within limits; adhere to policies and procedures, close audit issues with no repeat findings and meet SLAs.
• Drive customer satisfaction (NPS), maintain relationship plans, conduct annual and interim reviews of borrowing facilities, handle complaints and sell products reactively and proactively.
• Analyse the customer's business and build a target list of potential new business.
• Business management (30%): gather information to prepare and assess credit applications, working with Assistant Relationship Managers, Business Development Managers and the Corporate Credit Manager; control portfolio quality against risk management guidelines.
• Staff management (5%): coach and develop Assistant Relationship Managers and track their performance.

Required profile

• Relevant business-related degree from a recognised university; additional professional qualifications are an advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in relationship management in business or corporate banking.

Required skills

• Detailed knowledge of commercial and corporate products and of the country's policies and credit risk guidelines.
• Ability to introduce products and coordinate the introduction of relevant group product specialists.
