AI Annotation Team Lead

About the role

A client of Alinefacility Management is looking for an experienced AI Annotation Team Lead in Nairobi to oversee a team of AI annotators. The role ensures high-quality data annotation, timely project delivery and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, motivate and assign daily annotation tasks to the team, tracking attendance, productivity and performance
• Review completed annotations for accuracy and consistency, run quality checks before client submission and give corrective feedback
• Coordinate project activities, monitor progress against deadlines and escalate issues to project managers
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports
• Train new annotators, run refresher sessions and mentor team members
• Monitor KPIs such as accuracy, turnaround time and error rate, conduct performance reviews and recognise top performers
• Act as the main contact between annotators and project managers and communicate project updates and client feedback
• Improve workflows, help update annotation guidelines and take part in pilot projects
• Protect client data, enforce data protection and security policies, and maintain records of tasks, quality metrics and risks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business or a related field
• 3 years of experience in AI data annotation, data labelling or similar operations, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or team leadership role
• Proven experience managing teams, monitoring performance and delivering projects on time and to quality standards
• Strong understanding of QA processes, performance metrics and continuous improvement
• Leadership, communication, problem-solving, coaching and stakeholder management skills
