Airlift Joint Inspector / Air Cargo Lead

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a full-time Airlift Joint Inspector / Air Cargo Lead in Mombasa, Kenya. The role covers joint inspection of deployment, redeployment and exercise cargo, load planning and supervision of an air cargo team, in line with DoD mobility regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cargo joint inspections so that all deployment, redeployment and exercise cargo complies with procedures, regulations and safety standards.
• Inspect aircraft loads with a qualified representative from the deploying unit's movement officer, following DoD 4500.9R, Part III, Mobility, Appendix O.
• Verify cargo is movement-ready before loading, with proper packaging, bracing and restraint, and complete inspections within six hours.
• Maintain detailed records and reports on inspected cargo for regulatory compliance.
• Prepare load plans with loadmasters, aircrews and deployment representatives, and assist in loading and unloading using MHE and ground support tools.
• Coordinate with deploying units and aircrews to resolve discrepancies and supervise and train air cargo team members.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in cargo operations, logistics and inspections in a military, government or industrial setting, including leadership or supervisory experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Trained and qualified as a Joint Inspector with documented evidence of formal training.
• Valid passport, able to travel internationally, obtain country-specific visas and pass contract medical requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; English reading, speaking and comprehension at working level.

Required skills

• Cargo inspection and preparation, including packaging, bracing, load balancing and load planning.
• Operation of material handling equipment (MHE) and ground support tools.
• Knowledge of DoD regulations such as DoD 4500.9R, Part III, Mobility, Appendix O.
• Problem-solving, decision-making and strong organisational skills.
