Art Teacher

About the role

Peponi House Preparatory School is seeking an Art specialist to lead creative teaching for pupils aged 6‑13. The role will design and deliver progressive lessons, assess work and help embed art throughout school life.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Art across multiple year groups, adapting tasks to stretch and support every learner.
• Plan sequential lessons that develop creativity, technical control and confidence.
• Assess pupil progress through observation and marking, providing constructive feedback.
• Organise exhibitions, displays and creative events showcasing student work.
• Prepare resources, manage materials and uphold health and safety in the studio.
• Supervise support staff and collaborate with the Head of Department on curriculum planning.
• Contribute to co‑curricular programmes, run Art clubs and cover for absent colleagues.

Required profile

• A relevant qualification in Art, Fine Art, Art Education or related field, with a recognised teaching qualification or classroom experience.
• Secure subject knowledge and practical fluency across a range of media and techniques.
• Proven ability to plan differentiated lessons and give effective feedback.
• Confidence managing a practical studio environment, including tools, materials and safety requirements.
• Experience teaching Art at preparatory‑school level and familiarity with IAPS or comparable settings is desirable.
