Assistant Finance Manager – BAM

About the role

The Assistant Finance Manager – BAM will support Britam Asset Managers and related entities by delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing decision‑support analysis for senior management and the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Review and oversee preparation of financial reports, monthly and annual statements, management accounts and trial balances for BAM Kenya, Uganda, SPVs, Unit Trust Funds and Alternatives.
• Prepare Board Packs, EXCO Packs, finance leader reports and operational reconciliation reports.
• Analyse financial performance, variances, risks and provide commentary for decision‑making.
• Review and approve journals, accruals, pre‑payments, payroll and investment income entries.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes and ensure timely regulatory submissions (CMA, RBCA, tax).
• Supervise and coach finance team members to meet reporting and control deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or equivalent; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA or ICPAK membership.
• Minimum 4 years of finance experience in investment management, insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, regulatory reporting and taxation.
• Excellent analytical, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
