Assistant Finance Manager

About the role

The Assistant Finance Manager will support Britam Asset Managers (BAM) in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across Kenya, Uganda, SPVs, Unit Trust Funds and Alternatives. The role ensures regulatory compliance, robust reconciliations and provides decision‑support reporting for management, EXCO and the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Review and oversee preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, management accounts and trial balances for BAM entities.
• Prepare Board Packs, EXCO Packs, Finance Leaders Reports and Operations Reconciliation Reports.
• Challenge and approve journals, month‑end adjustments, accruals, pre‑payments, payroll and investment income entries.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of CMA regulatory reports and Risk‑Based Capital Adequacy (RBCA) reports.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes, including audit schedules and follow‑up actions.
• Supervise, coach and review work of finance team members to meet reporting deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting/Finance) or equivalent; professional qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA or ICPAK membership.
• Relevant experience in a busy finance, investment management, insurance or financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, reconciliations, regulatory reporting and taxation.
• Excellent analytical, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
