Assistant Student Counsellor

About the role

The Assistant Student Counsellor supports the wellbeing of university students by delivering professional counseling services and facilitating peer‑counseling initiatives. This role is based on the Westlands campus and works closely with the counseling department to ensure students have access to timely and confidential support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one counseling sessions to university students.
• Organise and lead student orientation activities that introduce counseling services.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all counseling interactions.
• Coordinate peer‑counseling programs and related activities.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff within the counseling unit.

Required profile

• Earned Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology or a related field, and registration with the relevant professional body; or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least six years of work experience, including three years in student counseling, and registration with the relevant professional body.
• Proficiency in computer use and record‑keeping systems.
