About the role

GiveDirectly is looking for an Associate Field Manager (AFM) in Kaloleni, Kenya, to ensure that its cash-transfer programme delivers a high standard to donors and recipients. • Risk monitoring (40%): investigate high-risk cases end to end, follow up with at-risk recipients, run community-based fraud risk intelligence such as transect walks, monitor risk reporting trends, vet surveys and raise ideas for improving the enrollment process.
  • Field management (10%): brief field teams each morning, track Field Officer productivity and quality, keep senior management informed of key risks and meet weekly with field managers and the Internal Audit Manager.
  • Field officer management (10%): quality-check surveys, coach Field Officers, handle underperformance and disciplinary action, and foster teamwork and morale.
  • Administration (10%): process allowance and leave requests, timesheets and equipment requests, and take part in a weekly field-management forum.
  • Other (10%): support hiring, onboarding, hosting visitors and journalists, and help respond to crises such as refusal spikes or coordinated fraud.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing teams in the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Proven track record in people management, especially in remote or resource-scarce settings.

  • Fluency in the Giriama language is required.
  • High integrity, empathy and alignment with GiveDirectly's values.

Required skills

  • Data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Digital data tools, community engagement, financial reconciliation or social protection program experience is an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
