Associate I: Premium Management

About the role

ICEA Lion Group, one of the largest insurers and financial services companies in East Africa, is hiring an Associate I for its Premium Management function in Westlands, Nairobi. The role covers premium collection, bank credit allocation, client communication and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate credits received in the bank to the respective policies.
• Facilitate receipting of all booked premiums and give feedback to clients on their queries.
• Collect premiums due on debit dates by sending direct debit instructions to the bank, following up on unpaid ones and informing non-paying clients.
• Maintain good relationships with the banks involved in direct debit collections and negotiate favourable charges.
• Arrange and guide sectional meetings and report the minutes to the line manager, separating urgent from important issues.
• Review internal processes and work with the ICT team to improve efficiency, reporting any risks to operational efficiency.
• Attend meetings with partners (banks, sponsors, sales force) and industry peers.
• Train new staff and internal clients such as the sales team on operation processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in any field from a reputable university.
• At least one year of post-qualification experience in a life insurance company.
• Progression toward a professional insurance qualification such as ACII, FCII or equivalent is an added advantage.
