Bebbo Technology Consultant, Early Childhood Development (ECD)

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a Bebbo Technology Consultant for its Early Childhood Development (ECD) Global Programme Division, based in Nairobi with remote work. The consultancy runs for 13.5 months and focuses on mobile applications for the Bebbo programme. Full details of expected deliverables are in the Terms of Reference.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least 7 years of professional experience designing, developing and maintaining mobile applications with React Native or equivalent frameworks, and deploying and maintaining digital products across multiple countries or languages.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of one or more languages spoken in Bebbo programme countries is an asset.
• Previous experience with UNICEF or understanding of its operating context is desirable.

Required skills

• React Native mobile app development for Android and iOS, with a focus on offline functionality.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Firebase and RESTful APIs; Node.js, DevOps and AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot are assets.
• Desirable: Drupal-based CMS and backend integration, BigQuery, SQL, scheduled queries and Looker Studio dashboards.
• Ability to coordinate with designers, developers, researchers and country partners, manage competing priorities remotely and give technical guidance and knowledge transfer.
