Behavioural Science Consultant – Long-Term Agreement (Remote)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced behavioural scientist to join its Global Programme Division on a long‑term consultancy basis. The consultant will work remotely, providing evidence‑based social and behaviour change expertise to country, regional and centre offices.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver on‑demand behavioural science support across the full programme cycle – research, intervention design and evaluation.
• Apply both core behavioural methods and advanced computational techniques to diagnose drivers of behaviour.
• Develop, test and refine evidence‑based interventions for health, nutrition, education, child protection, WASH, social policy and climate resilience.
• Analyse programme data using machine learning, large language models, agent‑based simulation, network and geospatial analysis, and adaptive experimentation.
• Translate behavioural findings into actionable recommendations for UNICEF programmes.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in behavioural science, psychology, economics, public health or a related field.
• Proven experience in applying behavioural economics, social psychology, decision science or implementation science to development programmes.
• Familiarity with UNICEF or other international development contexts is an advantage.
