BESS Technician

About the role

Miale Solar is hiring a full-time BESS Technician based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role covers installation, commissioning and maintenance of battery energy storage systems and their associated power equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and test battery enclosures, inverters/PCS, transformers and switchgear.
• Monitor BESS performance through SCADA/EMS and respond to alarms with first-level diagnostics.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on batteries, PCS, cooling and fire-suppression systems.
• Apply LOTO, arc-flash and safe-isolation practices on high-voltage DC/AC systems.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs, fault records and commissioning documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 2-3 years' hands-on experience in BESS, solar PV, power systems or industrial electrical maintenance.
• Practical HV DC/AC experience and the ability to read single-line diagrams, schematics and OEM manuals.
• Willingness to travel to sites, with occasional callout or shift work.

Required skills

• SCADA/EMS experience is an added advantage.
