Business Development Manager – Life Sciences & Healthcare Litigation

About the role

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Business Development Manager to support the growth of its Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory and Product Liability Litigation practices. The role will be based in one of the firm’s U.S. offices – Boston, New York or Washington, DC – and will work closely with practice leaders, attorneys and the Marketing Department to translate market insights into actionable business development strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with practice chairs and working‑group leaders to design and execute business development plans.
• Identify market trends, client opportunities and competitive positioning to drive growth initiatives.
• Lead the creation of pitches, proposals and RFP responses, shaping messaging and value propositions.
• Prepare and coach partners and senior attorneys for client meetings and presentations.
• Collaborate with BD and Marketing to manage directory and award submissions, media and thought‑leadership opportunities.
• Oversee development of marketing collateral, digital content and client‑focused events, webinars and campaigns.
• Develop and manage practice budgets, track ROI on BD initiatives and maintain CRM data.
• Support lateral partner integration through targeted client development planning.
• Supervise and mentor junior BD team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum of six years of business development or marketing experience, preferably in a law firm or professional‑services environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting life sciences and healthcare practices.
