Cashier

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Cashier in Nairobi. The Cashier receives and processes customer payments, issues receipts and keeps accurate transaction records, requiring strong numerical skills, attention to detail and good customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process payments by cash, mobile money or card, issue receipts and document every transaction
• Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift and reconcile daily sales with accounting records
• Provide courteous service at checkout, handle customer inquiries and keep the counter efficient
• Maintain transaction logs, submit daily reports and help prepare cash summaries for finance
• Report payment discrepancies immediately and follow cash-handling and fraud-prevention policies

Required profile

• Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field
• At least 2 years' experience as a cashier in a retail or supermarket setting
• Strong numerical and cash-handling skills, high attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Accounting software, QuickBooks preferred
• QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
