Chief Financial Officer

About the role

Tropikal Brands Africa Limited is looking for a Chief Financial Officer in Nairobi to provide strategic financial leadership, protect company assets and support sustainable, profitable growth. The role covers financial planning, reporting, treasury, commercial finance, risk management and compliance, and also provides finance oversight for the sister company Tropikal Spaces Limited.

Key responsibilities

• Develop financial plans, budgets and forecasts with the Managing Director and department heads, and advise management and the Board on performance, risks and investment opportunities
• Lead financial reporting, management accounts, reconciliations, annual statements and external audits
• Manage product costing, profitability, inventory controls and advise Sales, Marketing, Production and Procurement on pricing and cost optimisation
• Manage cash flow, credit control, working capital and foreign exchange and interest rate exposures
• Ensure timely tax compliance, statutory filings, eTIMS, audits, payroll remittances and related-party transaction governance
• Drive finance automation, internal controls, risk and fraud prevention, and business continuity
• Provide finance oversight for Tropikal Spaces, including intercompany reconciliations
• Support strategic transactions, lead and develop the finance team and support sustainability reporting

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, commerce or a related field; a master's degree is an added advantage
• CPA(K), ACCA or an equivalent recognised qualification, in good standing with the relevant body
• At least 10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in senior finance leadership
• Strong manufacturing or FMCG experience, including costing, inventory and commercial finance
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, Kenyan tax compliance, treasury, budgeting, audits and internal controls

Required skills

• Strong Sage X3 ERP, spreadsheet and financial modelling capability
• Experience improving finance processes and management reporting
• Strategic and commercial judgement, financial analysis, risk assessment and Board-level communication
