Chief, Investigations – Lead Misconduct & Sexual Misconduct Teams

About the role

The Office of Audit and Investigations (OAI) seeks a senior leader to head Unit 2, overseeing misconduct investigations across Central, West, East and Southern Africa. The incumbent will guide regional teams and the Sexual Misconduct Team, ensuring high‑quality, timely investigations aligned with UNDP policies and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise investigation teams, managing caseloads and ensuring resource‑effective completion of investigations.
• Produce well‑evidenced reports for disciplinary actions or referrals to national authorities.
• Conduct regular case reviews, monitor timelines, and ensure all lines of inquiry are pursued.
• Provide senior investigative expertise on complex, high‑priority, or sensitive cases.
• Leverage IT forensics, financial forensics, AI, data analytics and open‑source tools while maintaining confidentiality and security.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in leading misconduct or fraud investigations within an international or multi‑regional context.
• Proven ability to manage diverse, multi‑location teams and foster a supportive, high‑performing work culture.
• Strong knowledge of UNDP’s social, environmental and SEAH policies and relevant international investigation guidelines.
