Civil & Structural Technician

About the role

The Civil & Structural Technician will support the installation of solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) by performing site assessments, civil works, and quality checks. This full‑time, onsite position is based in Nairobi and requires a solid background in civil or structural engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Support site surveys, setting out, leveling and marking for foundations, equipment and structures.
• Carry out excavation, grading, compaction, drainage, trenching, equipment pads and fencing.
• Assist with reinforcement, formwork, concreting, PV mounting structures and BESS foundations.
• Check dimensions, alignment and levels against approved drawings and run quality checks.
• Maintain daily site records, photos, checklists and as‑built measurements.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–3 years practical experience in construction, solar PV, BESS or related installation work.
• Ability to read technical drawings, layouts and site instructions.
• Basic understanding of construction quality, health and safety requirements.
