Collection Officer – Chuka

About the role

The Collections Officer will manage outstanding debts, aiming to minimise credit losses and maximise recoveries for both internally and externally disbursed loans.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure targets are met in minimizing credit losses and maximizing recoveries.
• Provide timely feedback on customers' payment behaviour to management.
• Contact defaulting customers by phone or visit to negotiate settlements.
• Work closely with BDOs on bad‑debt portfolios.
• Prepare, analyse and submit regular reports on overdue accounts, recovery plans and risk exposures.
• Identify, assess and evaluate risk areas in recovery and make recommendations.
• Implement data clean‑up procedures to maintain up‑to‑date credit data.
• Oversee recovery of outstanding loan amounts and procedural handling of securities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree (minimum education level).
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in debt recoveries within a financial services environment.
• Computer literacy.
• Education background in sales or marketing.
• Experience in a financial institution dealing with low‑income customers is an advantage.
