College Principal - Nursing School, Nairobi

About the role

AG German Institute is looking for a highly experienced, NCK-registered nursing professional to lead the establishment and accreditation of a new Nursing School in Nairobi. The successful candidate will move from Project Lead (setup phase) to College Principal once the school is accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

Key responsibilities

• Lead the accreditation process with NCK and TVETA, and supervise the equipping of the Skills Lab, library and classrooms to NCK standards.
• Prepare and submit training syllabi for approval and negotiate MoUs with hospitals for student clinical placements.
• Assist in hiring qualified tutors and clinical instructors.
• Oversee daily administration, finance and operations, and act as the campus accounting officer, managing budgets, staffing and resource allocation.
• Coordinate, implement and evaluate medical training programmes to meet the criteria of professional regulatory bodies such as the Nursing Council of Kenya and the Clinical Officers Council.
• Manage student indexing, examinations and graduation, and chair the disciplinary committee for student discipline matters.
• Keep staff and students informed on developments in nursing education, maintain professional competence through continuous education, and report periodically to the Board of Directors.

Required profile

• Nursing Master's degree and registration as a nurse; at least 5-7 years in nursing education, including at least 2 years in a senior management role such as Head of Department or Principal.
• Diploma in Medical Education or Technical Education.
• Previous experience navigating NCK accreditation is highly desirable.
• Clearance under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (KRA, EACC, HELB, DCI/Good Conduct and CRB) required after a successful candidate is identified.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of the Health Act and TVET Act of Kenya.
• Strong network in the Kenyan healthcare and regulatory sector.
• Project management, negotiation, communication and result-oriented skills.
