Communication Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of Farm Africa’s communications strategy for the Kenya office, supporting both the global team and local programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Raise the profile of Farm Africa’s work in Kenya through stakeholder mapping, media strategy and production of marketing materials.
• Manage external contacts, media enquiries, press releases and multimedia content to promote impact.
• Coordinate with the global communications team, maintain website sections, and create content for social media platforms.
• Support donor reporting, fundraising collateral, and documentation of events and field visits.
• Build communications capacity across staff through training and tool implementation.

Required profile

• Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design or related field.
• At least three years of experience in communications, media or marketing, preferably with an NGO or agriculture‑linked organisation.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili with strong writing, editing and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and engage diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Photography and videography for promotional purposes.
• Design and editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and PowerPoint.
• Desktop publishing, video editing and digital content creation.
• Social media management (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook) and website content management.
• Proficiency in IT applications for communications and data protection compliance.
