Communications Officer – TeachWell Project

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Communications Officer to support the TeachWell (TW) Project in Nairobi. Reporting to the Project Director, you will drive internal and external communications, increase visibility, and ensure consistent messaging for the consortium.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update the TeachWell Communications Plan, aligning it with annual project priorities and stakeholder needs.
• Develop and package diverse content—including reports, stories, videos, and social‑media posts—for the TW website and partner channels.
• Coordinate video documentation with production partners, manage briefs, interviews, timelines, and ensure outputs meet donor requirements.
• Serve as the communications focal point for consortium partners, gathering inputs, maintaining branding, and securing approvals.
• Support education events and forums in Kenya by preparing key messages, presentation materials, and coverage plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, development studies, public relations or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in media, journalism, advocacy or communications within an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Proven ability to manage communication strategies in complex, dynamic environments.
• Strong writing and editing skills with a track record of producing audience‑focused content.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canva for creating graphics and social‑media assets.
• Experience coordinating video production and managing related workflows.
