Community Health Assistant

About the role

The Community Health Assistant will work on the ground in Lodwar, mobilising community members for health services, immunisation and outreach programmes. The role involves household visits, health education and data collection to support maternal and child health initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise community members for health services, immunisation and outreach programmes.
• Conduct household visits to promote hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and disease prevention.
• Support maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health initiatives.
• Deliver health education sessions on priority public health issues.
• Promote treatment adherence, referrals and follow‑up care within the community.
• Collect, record and submit community health data and reports using approved MoH tools.
• Maintain accurate records of community activities and referrals.
• Work closely with dispensary staff and community health volunteers, adhering to MoH guidelines and confidentiality requirements.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Community Health or Public Health from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the relevant professional body where applicable.
• At least one year of experience in community health or public health programmes (preferred).
