Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) – Nyahururu

About the role

We are seeking a Community Oral Health Officer to deliver preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services in Nyahururu and surrounding rural communities. The role focuses on improving oral health through outreach, education and direct patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide preventive and basic curative dental services, including examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride applications.
• Conduct community outreach, school dental health programs and mobile clinic activities.
• Maintain accurate patient records and follow care plans using Health Management Information Systems.
• Administer medications and prescriptions in accordance with clinical guidelines.
• Ensure infection prevention and control standards are met at all times.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
• Valid licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Minimum two years post‑internship experience.
• Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Experience with community outreach or mobile dental clinics is an advantage.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency with Health Management Information Systems.
• Ability to perform dental examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride applications.
• Medication and prescription administration.
• Infection control procedures.
