Community Relations Manager

About the role

The Community Relations Manager will expand American Prairie’s outreach across Hill, Phillips, Blaine, and Valley Counties in Montana. Reporting to the Director of Community Outreach, this public‑facing role strengthens community ties, advances conservation goals, and invites the public to engage with the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with individuals, community leaders, NGOs, and local government officials north of the Missouri River.
• Maintain a visible presence in Malta, Havre, Glasgow and surrounding areas 2‑3 days per week to serve as a local resource.
• Serve as liaison to advisory board members, county commissioners, conservation districts, and regional working groups.
• Organize, coordinate, and facilitate outreach events such as town halls and informational sessions.
• Support development of educational and engagement programming and represent American Prairie in diverse public settings.
• Collaborate with internal teams across departments to align outreach activities with organizational goals.

Required profile

• Strong public‑facing communication skills and ability to engage diverse community audiences.
• Experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, or related nonprofit work.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the designated counties and attend local events.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
