About the role
The Conservation Data Advisor for Africa will join the Conservation Impact System Team (IST) within The Nature Conservancy’s Chief Conservation Office. Working for two years on a fixed‑term basis, you will help regional teams generate, trust, and use high‑quality conservation data to improve decision‑making and impact across the Africa portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Africa regional MEL leads to align data support with regional priorities and adaptive‑management needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with scientists, portfolio managers, and MEL specialists to ensure data quality and evidence‑based reporting.
- Develop, implement, and iterate CDT offerings, including toolkits and standards, using a learn‑by‑doing approach.
- Facilitate cross‑regional knowledge sharing to co‑evolve common data practices that remain contextually relevant.
- Provide technical and data‑science assistance to conservation teams, supporting organizational reporting and executive recommendations.
Required profile
- Experience working with conservation or environmental data in an international or regional context.
- Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes.
- Proven ability to build trust‑based relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑cultural collaboration.
