Content Lead – Tech Safari Newsletter

About the role

Tech Safari is seeking a Content Lead to own the weekly feature edition of its flagship newsletter, edit contributions from junior writers and freelancers, and collaborate with the Head of Growth and Editorial on future content strategy. This full‑time, mid‑level position reports directly to the Head of Growth and Editorial.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write, and publish the weekly feature edition on African tech business and economy, delivering on time each week.
• Produce at least one edition of The Big Move newsletter each month.
• Edit the weekly roundup "This Week in African Tech" and provide constructive feedback to junior writers and freelancers.
• Review incoming pitches and help shape new content formats, pillars, and engagement strategies.
• Interact with readers, incorporate feedback, and propose multimedia extensions such as podcasts or video.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of experience writing about business, technology, or economics with published bylines.
• Proven editorial experience, having edited others' work and managed contributors.
• Established network within African tech – ability to secure interviews with founders, investors, or policymakers.
• Strong deadline discipline, clear written and verbal communication, and willingness to challenge editorial decisions professionally.
• Comfortable using AI tools for research and admin, but must produce original writing without AI‑generated drafts.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools for handling funding data and company reports.
• Familiarity with newsletter platforms such as beehiiv or similar.
