Counsellor – Student Support (Part‑time)

About the role

Doncaster College is seeking a qualified counsellor to provide confidential, professional support to students and apprentices. This part‑time position plays a vital role in promoting health, wellbeing and academic success within the DN Colleges Group.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver confidential counselling services to learners facing personal, emotional and wellbeing challenges.
• Assess risk, monitor vulnerable learners and coordinate referrals to statutory and voluntary agencies.
• Maintain accurate, secure case records in line with BACP standards and college procedures.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and uphold professional practice.
• Develop and review counselling policies, procedures and service improvements.
• Design and facilitate workshops, group sessions and induction activities to raise awareness of the counselling service.
• Collaborate with safeguarding, inclusion teams and external partners to support learner retention.
• Engage in continuous professional development and CPD relevant to the role.

Required profile

• Foundation degree in Counselling and current registration with a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP).
• Passionate about supporting young people and promoting wellbeing.
• Excellent communication, empathy and safeguarding awareness.

• Salary pro‑rated £27,944 – £30,468 (Grade 4) per annum.
• Permanent contract, 35.5 hours per week over 40 weeks (term time).
