Professor of Polymer Engineering (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Kenya‑AIST Institute seeks a full‑time Professor in Polymer Engineering to lead teaching, research and academic activities. The position is based on‑site in Konza City and involves supervising students, publishing scholarly work and contributing to departmental development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in polymer engineering, ensuring compliance with the Institute’s quality framework.
• Lead and coordinate research programmes, secure external funding, and establish national, regional and international collaborations.
• Supervise theses, dissertations, internships and guide doctoral and master’s students to successful completion.
• Mentor junior academic staff, develop laboratory manuals and promote technology transfer and commercialization of innovations.
• Contribute to academic‑industry partnerships, disseminate research outcomes and participate in departmental governance.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field from an accredited university.
• At least five years of teaching experience at the associate professor level or nine years of research experience.
• Minimum of 60 publications, with at least 40 in refereed journals, and supervision of ten doctoral and five master’s students.
• Evidence of patents or commercialised innovations is an advantage.
• Membership in a relevant professional body and proficiency with current information communication technologies.
