Country Director

About the role

The Country Director, Kenya is the principal representative of ChildFund in the country, responsible for strategic growth, partnership development and overall impact. This full‑time, fixed‑term role is based onsite in Nairobi and open to Kenyan nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic portfolio growth, securing diversified funding from grants, corporate partners and local philanthropy.
• Oversee program design, delivery and innovation, integrating youth‑led approaches and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Manage high‑value grants, ensuring timely implementation, financial reporting and contractual compliance.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing, inclusive team and foster a values‑driven organizational culture.
• Represent ChildFund with government, donors, INGOs, media and other stakeholders to influence policy and raise visibility.
• Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and safety/security protocols.

Required profile

• Kenyan national residing in Nairobi.
• University degree in a relevant field; master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in the development sector.
• Proven success in securing funding and managing institutional grants.
• Experience in emergency and community development programmes.

Required skills

• Fluency in English (written and oral).
• Fluency in Swahili (written and oral).
