Country Head

About the role

The Country Head leads the implementation of the International Baccalaureate’s global strategy within an assigned nation, ensuring the growth and sustainability of IB schools and partnerships. Reporting to the Sub‑region Head or Regional Director, this senior leader aligns regional objectives with national education priorities while driving high‑impact collaborations across the education ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regional school and IB programme growth to support the IB 2032 vision of reaching 5 million students.
• Oversee the country’s portfolio of programmes and manage a delegated in‑country budget.
• Direct functional leads across up to five areas: community development, stakeholder partnership, recognition & advocacy, marketing & communications, and business operations.
• Execute country‑specific community partnership and development strategies aligned with centrally approved plans.
• Monitor market trends, identify national opportunities and risks, and advise the Sub‑region Head/Regional Director.
• Represent the IB in national forums and with key education‑sector stakeholders.
• Drive the expansion of IB‑authorised schools and school‑group partnerships, providing contextualised support.
• Build and maintain relationships with Ministries of Education, local education authorities, philanthropic organisations, and industry partners.
• Support alignment of IB programmes with national education reform agendas and transformation goals.

Required profile

• 7+ years of leadership experience in education, policy, or international programmes.
• Master’s degree in Education, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Proven experience working with government and education institutions.
• Familiarity with IB programmes and international education systems.
