Customer Service Representative – Medical Scheduling

About the role

The Customer Service Representative will join Stony Brook Radiology’s UFPC team in Stony Brook, NY, providing front‑line support to patients and staff. Working full‑time, Monday through Friday, the role focuses on high‑volume appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and delivering courteous service in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments following established protocols and input accurate information into the scheduling system.
• Handle a high volume of inbound calls, routing them to appropriate departments as needed.
• Verify insurance details and assist patients with related inquiries.
• Provide professional, courteous customer service and resolve or appropriately escalate patient issues.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent typing ability and friendly telephone etiquette.
• Ability to multitask, stay self‑directed, and maintain high productivity and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with an appointment scheduling system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
