Customer Service Representative – Patient Scheduling

About the role

The Customer Service Representative will serve as the first point of contact for patients of Stony Brook Internists, handling high‑volume appointment scheduling and related inquiries. Working in a fast‑paced medical office in Commack, NY, you will ensure accurate data entry, insurance verification, and courteous service while supporting the clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and route a high volume of phone calls, scheduling patient appointments according to established protocols.
• Verify and input patient information and insurance details into the scheduling system.
• Provide timely customer service, resolve patient questions, or escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with friendly telephone etiquette.
• Excellent typing speed and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Preferred: at least six months of clerical or call‑center experience, preferably in a physician practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using an appointment scheduling system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
