Dairy Farm Manager

About the role

The Dairy Farm Manager will lead all aspects of herd health, nutrition, milking operations and business planning for a commercial dairy operation in Westlands, Kenya. This full‑time position requires hands‑on leadership, technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining high standards of animal welfare and milk quality.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee herd health, vaccination programs and veterinary care to maximise milk yield.
• Develop and manage feed formulations, monitor inventory and ensure clean water supply.
• Lead breeding, artificial insemination and calving processes for cows and goats.
• Supervise milking procedures, maintain hygiene standards and ensure equipment functionality.
• Inspect and maintain barns, milking parlors and farm machinery.
• Manage grazing rotations and supervise fodder crop planting and harvesting.
• Prepare financial budgets, control procurement costs and track profitability.
• Maintain accurate records of production, sales, breeding and health metrics.
• Enforce biosecurity, health and safety regulations across the farm.
• Assign daily tasks, train staff and conduct regular team meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience managing a commercial dairy or agricultural operation.
• Certificate in Animal Health and Production or equivalent.
• Ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions and be computer literate.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving and team‑building capabilities.
