Data Science Professor

About the role

The position involves teaching and supervising students, conducting research, publishing scholarly work, and contributing to academic and departmental activities within the Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages nationally, regionally, and internationally.
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies.
• Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with quality frameworks and regulations.
• Identify learning needs, design learning outcomes, assess student work, and provide feedback.
• Supervise theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments; mentor academic staff and students.
• Champion dissemination of research outputs and collaborate with industry for technology transfer and commercialization.

Required profile

• Earned PhD in a relevant field from a recognized university.
• At least five years teaching experience as an Associate Professor or nine years research experience as a Research Faculty.
• Minimum of sixty publications, with at least forty in refereed journals.
• Supervised at least ten doctoral students to completion and five master’s students.
• Evidence of patents or commercialized innovations is an advantage.
• Membership in a professional body where applicable and demonstrable knowledge of current ICT.
• Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
