Design Engineer – Solar PV

About the role

The client is a leading engineering consultancy delivering end‑to‑end technical advisory services for renewable energy projects across Africa. They are looking for a Solar PV Design Engineer to support project design, development and business growth in Kenya, reporting to the Divisional Manager in India.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities with the India office to ensure timely delivery and quality outputs.
• Develop initial PV system concepts, including technology assessment, tilt‑pitch optimisation, DC overload analysis, energy‑yield modelling and LCOE calculations.
• Lead and manage advisory assignments for renewable‑energy projects and support preparation and review of technical reports.
• Participate in client interactions, project discussions and feasibility site visits across the Africa region.
• Gather design information, identify implementation risks and produce conceptual designs.
• Maintain awareness of new product technologies and communicate developments to colleagues.
• Support solar PV business‑development activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience in renewable‑energy consulting, with at least one year in solar‑PV projects.
• Exposure to solar, wind or hybrid systems and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of the full project lifecycle from feasibility to execution, preferably on projects ≥ 10 MW.
• Fluent English; French is an advantage.
