Development Coordination Officer – Engineer (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The incumbent will support the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the JICA‑funded water‑supply project in Kakuma. This role provides technical and operational support in engineering, infrastructure development, urban planning, data analysis and programme management to ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery of sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of project work plans, engineering activities and infrastructure interventions according to approved documents and schedules.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities with county government, implementing partners, contractors, consultants, refugee leadership and host community representatives.
• Conduct field missions and site inspections to monitor progress, verify works, identify challenges and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and donor reports, technical summaries and engineering progress documentation.
• Assist in procurement by preparing technical specifications, Bills of Quantities, scope of works and engineering estimates.

Required profile

• Knowledge of sustainable development theories, concepts and approaches.
• Ability to identify data sources, conduct research, analyse data and draft reports on sustainable development issues.
• Strong professional competence in engineering and infrastructure assessment.

Required skills
