Director, Incident Management & Investigations

About the role

The Foundation seeks a senior leader to design, implement and oversee its incident management and investigations capability. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will safeguard beneficiaries, protect assets and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and embed incident management policies, protocols and investigation methodologies aligned with the Foundation’s values and risk framework.
• Lead the intake, triage, and resolution of reported incidents, including fraud, safeguarding concerns, misuse of funds and staff misconduct.
• Manage internal investigations and coordinate external investigative consultants, ensuring impartiality, confidentiality and legal compliance.
• Conduct root‑cause analyses, recommend corrective actions and oversee post‑incident reviews.
• Prepare and present incident and investigation reports to senior leadership and governance bodies.
• Develop and deliver training programmes on fraud detection, incident response and ethical conduct.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, HR, IT Security, Programs and Communications to ensure coordinated response and transparent stakeholder communication.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in incident management, investigations, safeguarding or related risk functions.
• Deep understanding of legal, regulatory and ethical standards governing non‑profit organisations.
• Strong analytical ability to conduct fact‑finding, interviews and root‑cause analysis.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across legal, compliance, program and communications teams.
