Drilling Engineer

About the role

The Drilling Engineer will provide technical expertise for planning and executing on‑shore drilling operations in Nairobi County, Kenya. This full‑time, on‑site position involves designing well programs, preparing drilling proposals and optimizing drilling parameters to ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design well programs and prepare detailed drilling proposals.
• Optimize drilling parameters and monitor real‑time operations.
• Collaborate with field crews, well engineers and service providers.
• Analyze offset well data and perform drilling engineering calculations.
• Coordinate logistics and drilling‑fluids teams, and prepare operational reports and post‑well reviews.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives, equipment selection and technology deployment.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge and practical experience in petroleum engineering.
• Expertise in land‑based drilling engineering, wellbore design and performance optimisation.
• Skills in well planning, including casing design, trajectory planning and risk assessment.
• Relevant degree in petroleum, mechanical or civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in on‑shore drilling operations, preferably in African or similarly challenging environments.
• Solid understanding of well‑control principles, drilling fluids and HSE standards.
• Proficiency with drilling engineering software and data‑analysis tools.
• Willingness to travel to operational sites and work in remote or demanding conditions.
