Drilling TRS Crew Member

About the role

Baker Hughes is hiring a Drilling TRS Crew Member in Nairobi to support tubular running activities that are central to well construction. The crew member operates mechanical and hydraulic TRS equipment, assists with rig-up and rig-down, and ensures the safe handling of casing, tubing and related tools.

Key responsibilities

• Operate TRS equipment such as power tongs, elevators, slips, spiders, torque-turn systems and hydraulic power units safely and professionally.
• Assist with rig-up and rig-down of TRS equipment, including stabbing boards, power units and tubular handling tools.
• Communicate effectively with the drill floor operator, clients and subcontracted personnel to ensure coordinated and safe operations.
• Perform basic troubleshooting, inspections and minor maintenance of TRS equipment before, during and after operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements, attend rig safety meetings and report hazards or operational issues immediately.
• Complete job documentation, activity reports and other operational tasks as instructed by the Operations Coordinator.

Required profile

• General knowledge of the oil and gas industry; prior TRS or drilling-related field experience preferred.
• A two-year technical degree (preferred) or an equivalent combination of technical training and field experience.
• Ability to travel for onshore and offshore assignments and to work variable schedules, including on-call and shift-based operations.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic tools safely and correctly.
• Ability to work and communicate with rig crews, supervisors and clients in high-pressure environments.
• Problem-solving skills, ability to follow procedures, inspect equipment and maintain operational readiness.
