Education Technical Assistant – Kakuma, Kenya

About the role

The Education Technical Assistant will support the delivery of quality education services for children in Kakuma, Kenya. Working within the Norwegian Refugee Council’s education programme, the role focuses on psychosocial support, child protection, and inclusive education for children with disabilities in a humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor teaching activities in schools and learning centres in Kakuma.
• Provide psychosocial support and ensure child protection standards are upheld.
• Work with Parent‑Teacher Associations to address education‑related issues.
• Support inclusive education initiatives for children with disabilities or special needs.
• Collaborate with humanitarian partners and local authorities in a volatile environment.
• Maintain accurate records and reporting on education outcomes.

Required profile

• Kenyan citizen with a bachelor’s degree or diploma in education.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience.
• Training and proven mastery of psychosocial support approaches for children.
• Understanding of child protection issues and experience working with PTAs.
• Experience supporting children with disabilities and working in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Cultural awareness, strong organisational and teamwork abilities.
